SAMES CEO Participates in McAllen Marathon 2018
Late City Commissioner, Scott Crane, helped foster the first McAllen Marathon (now the McAllen Marathon Scott Crane Memorial Run) in 2013, with the vision to “create an event that makes McAllen a destination,” his wife, Sasha Crane said.
This year’s race had over 1,300 runners registered and is now a Boston Marathon qualifier.
SAMES, Inc. CEO Samuel Maldonado not only has marathon vision for his company but for himself as well.
Sam successfully completed his first half marathon (13.2 miles). After training for over 5 months, he was able to scratch this off his “To Do List” and move on to the next.
“His zest for staying active has poured into his family and friends and has inspired many others to make some positive changes as well,” said his wife Jessica Maldonado.
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says physical activity is one of the most important things you can do for your health. The CDC reports that working out helps minimizes the risk of cardiovascular disease, Type 2 Diabetes and reduces the risk of some cancers.
A great way to start is by joining local races or walks that fit your pace. It is important to consult with your doctor before starting a new exercise regimen.
